Greg has been working in the oil and gas industry since 1983 after graduating from Oklahoma State University with a bachelor’s degree in Geology and minors in Business and Math. He began his career working for a local independent oil & gas company located in Tulsa, OK.
After 3 years of gaining hands on experience in the industry he decided to venture out and try to make it on his own. His knowledge and strong work ethic helped him succeed in the starting of his own company. It was 1986 when Greg incorporated Casillas Petroleum Corp. and it has been an active independent operator since then.
He is currently on the Board of Advisors for the Oklahoma State University’s Geology department. Greg is devoted to promoting education and building a better community for his fellow Oklahomans.
Vice President of Engineering and Operations
Nick Abernathy received his Mechanical Engineering degree from Auburn University in 2004. Following graduation he went to work for Schlumberger in Bryan, TX as a Stimulation Field Engineer. In 2006 Nick began work at Cimarex Energy as a production engineer for their SW Kansas assets. After his 2 year stint in the production group he spent 2 years as a drilling engineer in the Mid-Continent and then 4 years as a reservoir engineer in the Mid-Continent, Gulf Coast and A&D groups at Cimarex. In the summer of 2013 he began work at Red Fork Energy in Tulsa, OK as their Manager of Reservoir Engineering focusing primarily on the Mississippi Lime and Woodford play in Northeast Oklahoma. Nick is an engineer who has significant experience in the three main engineering disciplines in the oil and gas industry.
Vice President of Geology and Exploration
Mr. Carson has over 17 years of experience in oil and gas exploration, most recently serving as Exploration Manager and then Vice President of Exploration at Nemaha Oil and Gas. Prior to that he spent ten years as a Senior Geologist at Cimarex Energy Company, where he studied the Anadarko Basin reservoirs in Northwest Oklahoma, the Texas Panhandle, and Western Kansas. He also worked to develop new play areas and field extension in the structurally controlled basins of Southern Oklahoma. Prior to joining Cimarex, Mr. Carson was a Geologist at Helmerich & Payne Inc., where he was involved in the evaluation of underexplored regions of Gulf Coast Louisiana.
Mr. Carson holds a Master of Science in Geology from Oklahoma State University. He is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, serves on the Executive Committee of the Tulsa Geological Society and on the T. Boone Pickens School of Geology Alumni Advisory Council at Oklahoma State University.
Vice President of Land and A&D
Zachary A. Malchi joined Casillas Petroleum Corp. as Vice President – Land & A&D in August 2014. Before joining Casillas Petroleum Corp, Mr. Malchi was employed at Cimarex Energy Co. from 2008 to 2014, where he most recently served as Land Manager – Mid-Continent. Prior to joining Cimarex, Mr. Malchi was employed at Chesapeake Energy Corporation.
Mr. Malchi is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with majors in Energy Management and Management.
